Getting around San Jose for District 2 attendees
The Fairmont is bordered on the West by Market Street and the East by 1st St.
Almost anything you may want is within walking distance
although the town pretty much goes to sleep after 2am.
Transportation: The Fairmont has plenty of cabs waiting right outside just like most major hotels.
The light rail system runs along 1st St on the back.
The County bus system services both sides of the hotel.
Eaterys: The downtown area is saturated with restaurants and fast food and pubs. Ask any of the Local 134 hosts.
One block South on San Carlos St and 1 block East will get you to MacDonalds, Jack-In-The-Box, Ben & Jerry's and La Victoria (the most popular Mom&Pop Mexican shop).
1/2 block North to San Fernando, and 1 block East to 2nd St and 1/2 block North on 2nd street will get you to Zanotto's, the only grocery store nearby and sandwich deli.
A San Jose legend is 1 block South at 1st & San Carlos: Original Joe's.
Two blocks to the North is San Pedro Square with the Spaghetti Factory and The Sonoma Chicken Coop.
San Pedro Square also boasts a world famous micro brewery, The Tied House.
Another famous micro brewery is Gordon Beirsch, 1/2 block North and visible from the 1st St entrance.

The Art Museum, on Market to the North.
The California Theatre, restored recently to it's 1920s splendor, on 1st St to the South.
Center for the Performing Arts, Frank Lloyd Wright design, On Almaden to the West.
San Jose State University, 3 blocks to the East.
The combined City and University Library, 4th and San Fernando, 3 blocks to the East.
A short car ride to Park Av gets you to one of the most intensive Egyptian Museums in the world, including a tomb.
St Joseph's Cathedral and diocese center is 1/2 block North on Market.
